21st Nov 2011 - Did a beautiful bride at the weekend. Lady from the Philippines. So make up had to be slightly adapted to the Oriental face. Having no lids and flat lids you have to create a 3-D effect to give the idea the eyes have a lid. Making sure this is blended so looks natural and the line not harsh on the lid. Then I put black liquid eyeliner on the lid with a flick and stuck to a nude glossy lip. Mac Lipstick and YSL Gloss. Peach blush and Jemma Kidd Highlighter.

18th October 2011- The wedding season is going quiet now, got a few winter weddings booked, so in the meantime I am looking to update my kit with some new products. Also skincare products are so important. I have been trying Dermologica at the moment and would recommend this to anybody, yes they are more costly than other skincare brands but you pay for what you get and this does do what it says on the box. Bought a new lipstick from MAC called Cup Cake, this is the creamsheen range so does not dry the lips out and then keeps them moisturised as a lot of there's lipsticks are very drying.
Special occasions coming up? Maybe a Halloween Party? do you want your make up doing then please get in touch! What about a ball where you have to wear a ball gown then your make up needs to be special. Hairstyles help make an outfit and the red carpet looks is a 'messy up do' please visit my gallery page to look at some of the hairstyles I have done. Or send me a picture of what you want to re-create and will do my very best to advise you if i can do that style for you or look to an alternative.
Recently did a Photo-shoot with John Gardner, Wakefield. John is a great photographer and I did the make up for the a clients 40th Birthday. The lady wanted Smokey eyes. She was Asian and working on Oriental eyes is slightly different to working on Caucasian eyes. They do not have an full eyelid so you need to create a 3-D affect. Plus Oriental eyes can take heavy eye make as looks amazing on them!
25th September 2011 - Special Occasion Hair and Make up-The Client was going to an event and wanted Smokey eyes. I used two shades of grey eye shadow and natural false eyelashes with black gel eyeliner, then a nude lip to compliment the eyes. I curled the clients hair for a glam tousled look. Foundation was MAC studio fix and then I used a highlighter to create a radiant glow to the clients skin. The client had great skin so did not put a lot of foundation on her face, just enough to look natural and let her skin glow through. If you are interested in special occasion make up then please contact me to arrange an appointment at any location/event.
28th July 2011 -
Wedding season in full swing, been travelling to Hull for a few weddings as clients there say there are not many make up artists in that area. But that is the advantage of being freelance, I work all over and if clients want me then I will be happy to travel to whatever location. If outside my radius I have to ask for a fee towards petrol but clients are happy to do this.
Done a vintage wedding trial the other week on a client who’s wedding is in August. She is having a 50’s style wedding but did not want the traditional look we all know as vintage make up. We wanted to avoid the red lips and make it more daytime wedding. So we started off doing airbrush makeup to give a natural flawless finish to the clients skin. Then we built up colour in the eye socket with natural and earthy colours, browns to create definition and did the black eyeliner with the ‘flick’ then opted for a pink colour blush and a rose coloured lip so still gave a the feel of vintage but not as severe and more for the wedding. The bride loved the look and i was really pleased with the outcome. Looking forward to the day when the bride will have the traditional dress and hair and will make the look complete. Will make sure that an image will be posted on my website of the complete look.
27th June 2011 - A month since last blogged. Just been busy with weddings and site maintenance. Brides are seemingly following a trend and still opting for the natural make up look. False lashes are popular though as brides like to feel that they want there eyes to stand out. Still lots of trials to do for brides and weddings booked but still got some weekends free for upcoming weddings and discounts for large bridal parties. Having studied hair styling not had much call for it as much as i thought, but the odd hairstyling i do for customers keeps me up to date on what is in fashion for brides and what they want and the most popular hair style is half up, half down styles, aka Kate Middleton!
Thinking of buying the new Illmasqua foundation what has just been launched. I always use Mac Studio Fix. Illmasqua is a favourite beauty brand of mine and with the hype of the new foundation I may have to buy a couple of shades to see if I want them in my kit. Will update blog if I buy and let you know if worth purchasing.
Did a recent shot with Richard Paul Photographer, Images will be on my gallery soon. Make up was applied and strong eyebrows , but given a natural look to go with the theme we wanted to create.
22nd May- Last weekend I was involved In Leeds Bridal Shoot which included various photographers from round the UK came together to do bridal images, this is similar to a convension. I did the Hair and Make up on about 3 models. One included a Gothic Bride! Got some great images but still waiting for some more to come through and put on my gallery. Really enjoyed meeting new photographers and other make up artists and models.
Been a busy month for weddings in May. Was working in Leeds yesterday for a large wedding party, where some of the guests and bridal party came over from Liverpool. Today did a large wedding party in Bradford. Both brides where lovely and looked beautiful and made me feel very welcome on there special day.
This week got bridal trials for upcoming weddings. Sunday working with a great photographer again Richard Paul, Leeds. Doing some editorial Lingerie images for my portfolio. Natural make up and hair is the look we are going for.
Need to stock up on some new foundation so a trip to MAC make up counter shortly for supplies soon. Also Illamasqua has a new foundation coming out soon so may try a couple of shades. Also NYX are a great make up brand who I would recommend. Great value make up for make up artists.
9th May - Had a photoshoot with John Gardener photographer, Wakefield. Teenage make over photoshoot for clients birthday. The model was only 15 yrs old so make up was not to heavy as did not want the client to look older than her years but enough make up had to be applied to stand out in the pictures due to flash photography. I did Brown smokey eyes, false lashes, pink cheeks and pink lips.
Did a hair trial for a client for her upcoming wedding. We used a false ponytail to create thickness and volume and then i curled the hair and did barrel curls and twisted and secured with pins and pearls. The effect was amazing and once again a happy client. Also did a bride in Bradford, the bride was in her 40's so make up was not to heavy but enough to compliment the beautiful bride.
Got more make up trials in Leeds this week and a wedding in Halifax on Friday. Saturday doing a photoshoot In Leeds with some professional models and photographers, Bridal shoots so will be great for my portfolio!
On the lookout for some new make up, looking to order from Nars I think as there eyeshadows are one of my favorites.
1st May- Pictures below are from the L'Oreal colour trophy awards. I did the make up to compliment the hair for the event. Model Georgina was a professional and had great features for me to work on.
Having watched the royal wedding which I enjoyed I compliment Kate the bride on wearing heavier make up on the day of the wedding. At last a bride who wants to look glam on her day. Sometimes I discuss with brides make up has to be heavier and more application for the day firstly due to camera work- photos are for life and who wants to look bland on them? And also make up has to last throughout the day hence why heavier application. Plus why wear makeup you would wear on a daily basis. You are wearing a dress you would not wear on a daily basis so make up needs to be the slightly over the top. I thought her make up was great and I applaud her on bringing out the glam but pretty look for her wedding. So hope all the brides out there will have a new outlook on their make up and take tips from the princess herself if it is good enough for royality then it is good enough for any new brides to be out there. Glam make up is the way forward!

20th April- Collaborated on a shoot in Mirfield on Saturday with an ex 80's pop star from the band 'Dollar', Thereza Bazar from the band and Alan Connor a singer from Leeds wanted make up for the PR pictures they were having done. So make up was required and afterwards I stayed around to watch the images been taken. Thereza was a delight to work on and told me all about the days singing in the group and all the make up artists who had worked on her face in the past, hope she liked my work as she will be an expert on picking out the good from the bad! Loved been involved with something different and look forward to seeing the final images.
Wedding season getting closer, lots of bookings and upcoming weddings in the next month or so. Seems May is the busy time for brides. Got lots of work in Halifax, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Dewbury and all surrounding areas of Yorkshire.
13th April- Worked on behalf of Room 97, Wakefield hairdressers as a make up artist for the L'Oreal Awards in Leeds for the regional finals hair award. Had a fantastic time working with the hair team doing the make up on the hair model. The look was Autumn/Winter 2011, hair, makeup and clothes had to work round the theme. We did a smokey eye and dark pink lips the eyes were a bluey/grey colour to compliement the blond hair with blue colours so the eye make up 'popped'. The show went on till late in the evening, so was a long hard day but very enjoyable and would love to be involved in this sort of event again.
1st April- Prom season upon us again and if you are looking for a make up artist for that special day then please get in touch. I cover Halifax, Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds and all surrounding areas of the Yorkshire area. This includes full make up application and false eyelashes for that special prom. Also for a small extra fee I will style your hair to compliment your make up.
29th March- Got lots of bridal trials booked in and been doing this week in the Halifax area, also doing a evening wedding make up again but in Pontefract. ! The bride got married in Florida but is having a reception back in her home town. After the make up I am onto Manchester to see Kylie in concert. Working on a Photoshoot on Sunday with local photographer.
Mentioned about a new mascara I was testing and really was a let down as did not live up to the expectations. So back to the drawing board to find that perfect mascara!
new pictures on my gallery from the Oxford fashion show I was involved with. Some nice images which showcased some of my work.
21st March- Having got back from working on the fashion show in Oxford I came away inspired to what I learnt on what goes on behind the scenes. All make up had to be really bright colours, so did lots of green eyeshadow and pink lips! Male models were made up, this was concentrating on more of the contouring of the face and bringing out the eyes. Lots of the models came up from London and also the stylists and other make up artists and hairdressers but I was the only one from Yorkshire who was involved. Meet some nice people and was great for networking in the industry.
16th March- Getting ready for Oxford Fashion Week, show on saturday for Sinclair Management who represents Modesl for Diversity. Will be doing make up application for the models, hopefully network with other people in the industry and get my name out there in the make up world! Clothing brands will be Reiss, Miss Selfridges etc. so will be a great day. Staying overnight the day before so can be rested and ready for a busy day ahead!
Been busy with bridal trials this week, Huddersfield and Bradford. Work next week in the Leeds area.
Found out a about a really excellent mascara which is not sold in the UK, ordered from Japan and when it comes I will test this out and if any good I will share on my blog, meant to give amazing lash extension looks?
March 6th- Well confirmed that I am helping to do hair and make up at Oxford Fashion Week on 19th March. This is for 'Models of Diversity' which is a London based Model agency specialising in Models who are basically not 6ft and an amazon. Real models for real people. Looking forward to been involved with this charity event. Never been to Oxford, so looking forward to visiting this Heritage City.
3rd March 2011- Bridal trials up and running now, all brides are wanting natural radiant looks. Bought a new NARS eyeshadow duo and fantastic results, mid browns so gives a natural but warm look to the eyes. Think will be buying more from NARS even though more expensive than MAC it is a more velvet coverage and easier to apply without residue dropping onto the skin.
If brides are worried about there skin not being perfect for the wedding day I recommend having a microdermabrasion a few months before to give the skin a new lease of life. Not a cheap treatment but well worth the investment to look radiant on the day.
I have now started sending a information leaflet to clients when thinking of booking with me about having a make up artist and what it entails and what results to expect and also to cover brides idealistic views of what we can and cannot do with regards to looks they are wanting to create. Celeb's and magazines make brides want this beautiful flawless free face but do not realise that camera work, lighting and expectional editing creates these looks.
23rd Feb 2011- Did my hair course at Saks, Darlington, County Durham, learnt some tricks of the trade but was not as I expected, thought would learn more bridal hair. Plus side learnt how to do proper backcombing and gives the hair staying power for that special occasion. Tomorrow I am doing a bridal photo shoot in Wakefield, going to have gorgeous models, great location and beautiful dresses. Working with a new photographer who I have not worked with before so looking forward to getting the images and then put on my website.
Recently done some bridal trials for upcoming weddings, Leeds area, Halifax and Hull and have to say all brides are wanting different looks but for the day I recommend brides wear more make up than they are use to so for that one day in there life, they can feel glam and beautiful. When ladies want natural I have to explain that natural look has to have make up applied. If brides want hardly no make then the bride is not benefiting having a make up artist and is best doing her own make up. So brides out there please make sure that you really need a make up artist?
Wanting bridal hair for you wedding day for you and the bridal party, please contact me with images of hairstyles you like and then I can give quotes. All hair styling is from £30 depending on what style you are going for, anything more fancy and what requires more time will be more expensive. I have noticed alot of hairdressers do not do bridal hair anymore so I have decided to learn this. Plus I charge alot less than many hairdressers who do hair so my prices are below the going rate!
16th Feb 2011- Will be do a hairstyling course shortly so I will be qualified to do bridal hair and also hair for clients like photoshoots. I never charged for hair but due to the cost of the course and products and my academic skills this will be an additional extra. Hair is something which needs to be incorparated into my make up skills as firstly an additional income but also alot of people like to have hair combined with make up as easier for the client to offer a complete package. I have heard hairdressers charge a big fee for bridal hair do's so my services will be the going rate. So if you want to book my services then do so quickly as think this combined service will take off more likely in the upcoming wedding season.
7th February 2011- I have started a seperate blogging page and going to be interlinking into my website regarding, make up and my work etc. Just need to workout how to link the blog to this site.
27th January- Just updating my blog as need to tell you about a new Dior all in one cleansing gelee. This is used backstage at catwalks show due to the models who have to have make up all day. It gives a lovely radiance to your skin and makes your skin look less tired and more radiant. I would say this is a bonus in my make up kit. Waiting to buy the new Dior mascara but all out of stock at the moment. At £29 it is not cheap but hope it will be worth it due to the hype about this product.
24th January- Due to the rise in the costs for my services as a make up artist I will now be having to put up my bridal makeup service from the begining of April 2011. This is due to the rises in prices for my business. I have an offer that if you book before 1st April 2011 all prices for upcoming weddings will be at the old price but anything booked after this will be an increase in £10 for my services for the brides makeup. Instead of £50 it will be £60. My services are worth this money. I am a qualified make up artist and not a beautician. There is a big difference in this due to my costs and expertise of the service you will get. So any NEW clients wanting to book a trial or wedding before April will still pay the price of £50 instead of £60 when my prices will rise.
18th January- Not been on my blog for a while, just made a video which is on youtube of some of my work- I have another video coming soon with more updated pictures. Had lots of bookings for bridal makeup coming through. Done some great shoots of some close up beauty work with a photographer in West Yorkshire. The look is Rankin style work which is a famous photographer who does some amazing work.
Looking to buy some new foundation, chanel has a new foundation out at the moment but would rather have samples than go out and spend money on loads of different shades then the make up is not good enough for clients.
Been shopping in Leeds for false lashes, love lashes what would we do without them, they compliment and flatter everybody. Great for bridal makeovers.
28th December- Wedding hair. If you are wanting a trendy, updo then what about the modern beehive. I did the beehive which is pictured below on myself, this is quiet easy to achieve and left slightly messy for a modern twist. I love the beehive as is such a flattering style. But if brides want this look I would suggest no veil as would spoil the overall look. Maybe a small tiara added to give a bridal feel. The make up for this look would be false lashes with nude lips and soft brown smokey eyes with peach blush to give a natural but glamourous sixties feel. If you are interested in this look please contact me pinks2009@live.co.uk for more information.

12th December- Just updating to let you know I now have a tiara and headdress site attached to my website. These are hand make bespoke items which are made by my own fair hands. I am really pleased with my collection and hoping to add more to the collection in the new year. If things go well with the Tiaras then I will look to have a seperate website but at the moment keeping it small to test the market. Looking forward to doing a snow queen shoot with Dave Spink Photographer in the next couple of weeks and will use my tiaras in the pictures to get the full effect of how to wear them.
1st December- The pictures below are from a shoot last weekend in yorkshire. The weather was freezing but went to a local airfield for the shoot and had the model Hollie posing for pictures with the planes. The helicopter was the actual helicopter used in James Bond Thunderball film, hence why I wanted to get into the photo. We had some great images inside the studio at Andrew Box Photography and outside at the airfield.
Still got lots more pictures to upload for my site and waiting for the images to go onto my gallery once received from the photographers.
24th November- Had a busy weekend, did the brides hair and makeup, brides mother and 5 bridesmaid. All in 4 hours, was hard work but great fun. All the bridesmaids had smokey eyes and pink lipsticks to go with the colours in the bridal theme. The bride had nudes and browns eye makeup and nude lipstick and her hair was put into a side bun with her tiara. I am not a hairdresser but I can style hair for any occasion and charge a small fee for this service. Working friday on a boudior shoot this week, saturday on a photoshoot and sunday on a PR shoot.
I am also starting to make my very own tiaras and head accesories, these will include bridal, special occasions tiaras, my designs are going to range from vintage/medievial and traditional depending on your taste. I have made a few tiaras so far but going to get some pictures taken and then will put them on my website where you can order or design a tiara/accessories for your special event. The cost will vary for these items but will be reasonable and be affordable.
18th November. Done a few wedding trials for next years wedding, brides are wanting more dramatic eyes than the more natural look, fashions are changing for the brides which is a bonus as some brides who hardly have make up on can look washed out on the wedding photos. Bring on the glam brides!
Got a wedding on saturday for the bride and bridal party, also doing hair so will be a busy day on saturday.
Joined EMA Model agency to showcase my service. EMA are a new agency for upcoming models www.emamodels.co.uk you can also find them on twitter and facebook to follow there progress.
8th November-Got some images on my gallery of hair I did for a model, I am not a hairdresser but can do basic updo's and hair styling for clients. The photos were took by andrewboxphotographer who is based in castleford, West Yorkshire. Andrew took some amazing pics of a young model. He has great ideas and a great studio. If you are interested in a shoot with Andrew then go to his website andyboxphotography.com to view his work and contact details.
7th November- Bride yesterday, smokey eyes and dark lipstick as the wedding was taking place late afternoon so the look went well for a winter wedding. Done a test shoot today, nearly twelve hour day, made up 3 models with loads of different looks, styled hair for the shoot. Looking forward to the images for my portfolio and hope the agency was happy with my work. Got two wedding trials this week.
Bought a fantastic eyeshadow from Nars, love the eyeshadow, aqua with glitter encrusted into the shadow, amazing finish. Think another trip to Nars will be soon!
29th October- Just uploaded my new images which was taken by RichardPaul@gmail.com who is an amazing commerical photographer. Had adele and gemma who modelled for the shoot, both were amazing. The images are outstanding. Richard sent the images to an Illustrator in Hong Kong who added the tattoo images to the models pictures which was incorporated into the theme of the shoot. All the looks were inspried by oriental theme, we used a wig on one of the models to give the idea of an geisha girl. Hope to work with Richard again as the images and professional service he gives is outstanding. Feedback of the images would be appreciated. Also if you want to book a make over shoot please get in touch.
24th October-Been trying to work out my looks for my test shoot with a model agency on 31st october. So many ideas but unsure which will be the best for the shoot. 21st October- Just bought some new make up from the new topshop collection, great products and good prices, pigments in the colours are very intense which is great. Bought a lovely dark lipgloss, very vampish, would recommend for the winter period.
Doing my first fashion show tomorrow in Bolton. Hair and makeup for the models, so will be hetic and fun. If you are interested it is at the Bolton Academy and starts at 7pm.
9th October- Had an interview at a model agency in Manchester and got a test shoot to do in a couple of weeks. Got a few looks to work on. So going to be choosing some looks I want to do. Website is getting more or less completed with pictures going on daily. Still waiting for more pictures from various togs but hopefully worth the wait. Looking at buying some lipsticks for the upcoming winter months. So many to choose from but think will buy from my favorite product Illamasqua, love this product for the intense colour and fantastic application and staying power.
30th Sept- Last night travelled to newcastle to work with a photographer, his work was great, did some outdoor shots and the look was a bit grungy and a street style theme. For this I created the heavy eye make and dark burgandy lips. This was to look like the model had 'attitude' which i think helped when the images were captured. Dark eyes was created with dark grey and dark navy blue with added sparkle, heavy black eye liner and false lashes.
29th Sept- Bridal trial hair and make up went really well for stacey who is getting married on the 6th November. We did glam make up and false eyelashes with berry lips. This look is ideal for a winter wedding, the bride wanted this look, she had great ideas on what she wanted for her romantic winter wedding. Got some pics to load onto the site of what the look entails. Watch this space for the images.
27th Sept- Been away from the blog a bit as trying to redesign my website and been frustrating as still bits to do but hopefully will be completed this week i hope! Looking into offering a couple more services to my business. What about helping you shop for your make up as you are unsure what make up to wear and what suits you for your lifestyle etc. Also looking to offer make up lessons. Will update in a couple of weeks once I have had some more thought on this new service.

So doing natural and theatrical look. Also been asked to do a fashion show in Bolton. So should be good to get my name out there.
21st August- Worked with Sira Photography in harrogate today with Samantha Smith who is a professional singer and songwriter. We did some location pictures which I joined in with! Then we did a few different make up looks so Samantha can use these for her promoting herself. She was a pleasure to work on , of course this makes the job easier for a make up artist. She was very adaptable and the outcome of the pictures will be stunning. Cannot wait to see them and add to my portfolio. Plus the guys all got me some flowers and a birthday cake as was my birthday. What a great day!
16th August- Worked with twojackstudios, photographer Heinz. Had 3 models to make over. Theme was posh night out, so we added smokey eyes and pale lips. Hair sleek and dresses put on for the occasion. Then had to mess up the make up so it looked like the girls had been out all night and there make up was a mess after a night out drinking, so make up was smudged, hair was messed up and the results- well we will have to see the photos once they have been sent to me, watch this space! After 4 hours it was a wrap!
14th August- Bride emma got married, hair and make up went well, did bridesmaid hair and make up and curled the flower girls hair. Asked the bride to send me the pics on to me to add to my website. Was a really happy and stress free morning at the house getting everyone ready, glass of champagne was to hand!
9th August- Emily was Miss Charity Leeds, she wanted a fashion shoot, we did various make up looks, natural, funky and sultry. Photographer was Dave Spink, Bradford. All day shoot but will get some great images for my portfolio.
5th August- Did a great shoot today with a girl called Holly who wants to go into glamour modelling, I did the Katie Price look, heavy eyes, and pink lips and lovely false eyelashes. She looked amazing, even though she has many insecurities he pictures unedited were superb, D Spink photographer caputured some lovely looks and really shows up her make up. For photoshoots you have to really pile on the make up as so much lightening is used we need to see the make up on the photograph or else the model will look to bland for the images. Amazing what I have learnt from doing make up and learning what works best on camera.
Also did a bridal trial for Cheryl who is getting married in a month, so big change for her as she does not wear much make up but i really bought out her best features which were her eyes and cheekbones, hope she was happy! I certainly were as she looked like the perfect bride!

15th July- Bradford studio shoot with dave spink, had charlotte who was a professional dancer and fashion model. Did some unusual looks and the images will be so different. Amazing what looks you can get with foil!!!
14th July- Fantastic outdoor shoot in Wakefield today with Steve Saville, Sophia was a brilliant model and a pleasure to do the make up on. Cannot wait for the pictures.
13th July-Shoot today with a photographer in Leeds, glamour model make over! David Asher photographer in Leeds worked with me on a rock chick look and a girly punk look.
